Who we are
Yammas is a Greek and Mediterranean restaurant at 72–74 High Street, Beckenham, BR3 1ED. For the personal information described in this policy, Yammas is the data controller. You can contact us at info@yammas.uk or on 020 3827 4120.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, booking details, dining preferences, accessibility or dietary information you choose to provide, correspondence, payment or transaction references, marketing preferences and technical information about your use of our website.
We usually receive this information directly from you in the restaurant, when you contact us, or when you make a booking. We may also receive booking and transaction information from providers acting on our behalf, including our current booking provider, Dojo.
How and why we use it
We use personal information to:
- manage bookings, deposits, changes, cancellations and enquiries;
- provide restaurant services and respond to dietary, accessibility or customer-service requests;
- process and keep appropriate records of payments and transactions;
- send service messages about a booking;
- keep our restaurant, website and systems secure;
- understand and improve our service; and
- meet our legal, tax, accounting and regulatory responsibilities.
Our lawful bases may include performing a contract with you, complying with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in running and improving the restaurant, and your consent where required.
Email and SMS marketing
If you actively agree, we may send occasional marketing emails or SMS messages about Yammas, including menus, events and offers. You may be invited to give this optional consent when visiting the restaurant, contacting us or booking through our booking system (currently Dojo). Choosing not to consent will not affect your booking or dining experience.
You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option in a message, replying STOP where offered, or contacting us. We will keep a minimal suppression record so that we can respect your choice.
Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only where needed with people associated with operating Yammas and trusted providers that support our services. These may include:
- restaurant staff, operators, contractors and professional advisers who need the information for their work;
- Dojo and any replacement booking or payment provider;
- CRM, email and SMS platforms used to manage customer communication and consent;
- website hosting, analytics, IT, security and customer-support providers;
- Meta and other advertising platforms, where we use them lawfully and obtain consent when required; and
- regulators, law-enforcement bodies, courts or other parties where disclosure is required by law or needed to protect our rights.
Providers acting for us may only use information for the agreed service and must protect it. Some third parties may also process information under their own privacy notices, including when you use their website or booking service.
International transfers
Some technology providers may store or access information outside the UK. Where this happens, we require an appropriate legal safeguard, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.
How long we keep it
We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose collected, including legal, accounting and dispute-resolution requirements. Booking and transaction records may normally be retained for up to six years. Enquiry records are generally kept for up to two years. Marketing details are kept until you withdraw consent or they are no longer needed, with a limited suppression record retained to honour opt-outs.
Cookies and similar technology
Our website may use technology needed for it to work securely. If we introduce non-essential analytics or advertising cookies, we will ask for consent where required and provide a way to change your choice.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to certain use. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Contact us using the details above. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services, providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will always appear on this page with its revision date.
